funny old game

after my now too frequent whinge in my last post earlier today we were back out for another 11miles (giving us 32 in total for the weekend)and it ran really ok. ok so the terrain was a bit easier with more flat than normal but all in all a pleasing trot out. and charlie, who must have twigged he was in my bad books, was much better today too. so its a week coming up of less miles but more intense quality sessions. happy days :)

just came across your blog, very entertaining. Feel like i should leave a little warning tho from my time running with my two border collies. Ben painfully shredded his front pads when running on dusty trails and Dan now has arthritic hips and has to make do with walks instead of runs. Enjoy your time out together but keep an eye on the little fella - it's easy to overdo it because Charlie won't stop.

hi b-f. glad you like the blog. sorry to hear of dan and bens plights. that the thing about collies like you said, they dont know when to stop...but if they did they'd be all grumpy and agitated. so i reckon a full on life is best with as many precautions like glucosamine etc as possible. touch wood, charlies pads are fine but like everyone he can get stiff after proper long stuff..fortunately soon as hes up and out again the stiffness goes. thats collies for you! keep in touch. do your guys still get out with you?

no i don't run with them anymore in case i have to carry them home:( They're happy with their lot now tho it was great running on the south downs with them:) Maybe we'll meet up at an event somewhere and we can talk dog - or i'll turn this blog into a dogfest! Keep an eye on him Charlie...

Harvey's also in the bad books after getting lost the other day... as much as we think we're in charge, they always get the last laugh!

Don't worry about your running/mojo. It comes, it goes, it fools you into thinking it's gone again, then you have a great run and it's back for a good few months. I always say, "You've got to have the bad runs to know what a good run is"

pp - wise wise words. hope yours and harveys fling trainings going well. i wonder whether harvey thought he was lost? ;)

I've just read your article in Runner's World.
I know this isn't the right place to ask a question - but - how do you go about taking Charlie to races? Have you had any negatives from organisers? I run with my lab and she always wears a caniX type harness and is therefore 'attached' to me. Has to be or she would be up the front and in the way!

hi n-b..what a great name. all the races i do now are off road and mainly marathon distance and beyond where dogs are generally allowed. if hes not i dont go. and once the field thins out i tend to let him loose. what races do you do? so far i havent had a single bit of trouble with organisers or competitors. if anything quite the opposite :)
