temporary derailment

the trains aren't running on time in the world of ultra collie. in fact im not sure they're running at all. i remember the old british rail slogan..'we're getting there'..i don't think i am sadly. my knee has taken a retrograde step backwards and i'm now starting to no longer see the funny side..what funny side!! i dont believe physio is on top of it so next port of call will probably be a scan to rule stuff out or in.
after a most brilliant 2010, 2011 has yet to get started really and there is a fear that it might not. there's only so much optimism one can have before realism gets the better of you.
i will try to crack on a bit but i do fear that any proper long stuff might just be ruled out for the time being.
drat drat and double drat. and bugger.

Sorry to hear the body's unwilling UC. Sounds as though it needs some TLC and extra coaxing to make itself better. Maybe you can focus on the shorter stuff for a bit...

Healing and recovery vibes being sent out to you, RB.

Sounds like it is time to take it easy for a while. Get some emu oil and rub it on your sore bits every night - I reckon it helps (I buy it off e-bay from Rolls Choyce). Is your knee alright for walking?

It's a bugger and no mistake. My running's stalled for reasons other than mechanical and it can be tricky keeping your chin up so I share your pain ...:-)
Recovery's round the corner, though!

Take care of yourself!

Hi UC,
Sorry to hear the knee is playing up. Did you see the article about single leg dips in the fellrunner mag a few years back? Always sorts my achey knees out after a while. Hope you get on the mend soon.

Sorry to read about your knee troubles UC-
It's so frustrating when you want to run but cant.
Hopefully a scan will put you on the right path to recovery.
Hope its just a hitch.

Dave, I do empathise. It sounds like my predicament last year. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the MRI scan will show nothing serious.
If it is tendon, it will recover but it takes a long time (over a year so far for me, but it's improved massively even during this year) and needs plenty of low intensity exercise. I found that mine got worse when I laid off the exercise but improved with LONG, lower intensity exercise. Last year's Heart Of Scotland 100 was a turning point and a revelation for me. What I expected to happen (write myself off) and what actually happened (less pain) were complete opposites.
If walking and shuffling are not out-and-out painful, I implore you to keep walking and shuffling. The LDWA calendar will serve you well to full recovery. Be patient. You shall return, but get that scan done ASAP.

Bugger for sure. Hope you get to the bottom of this soon so that you can get back on track for 2011. Take care!

I think everyone has already said what I would say. I truly hope everything starts to come together soon for you. As you know most roads in the peak are not straight and many journeys have twists and turns in them before you get where you want to be.
All the best
